 WINE LIST

NO AGENDA

No Agenda is a long-running news deconstruction podcast hosted by Adam Curry, inventor of podcasting, and John C. Dvorak, tech columnist and wine expert. You can find the podcast at NoAgendaShow.com. This is the No Agenda Round Table wine list, which consists of many of Adam and John's live recommendations on the show. Linked in each of the bottles below, are articles about the various wine regions these wines come from, if you're looking to learn more about wine. There are certain regional guides that I've not gotten the chance to write, but I'm working on it!

It's no secret that John is an avid enjoyer of Bordeaux wines in particular. He has recommended Bordeaux wines from 2018, which is a fabulous vintage not only in Bordeaux, but in Burgundy, and seemingly across the wine world as well. I would recommend looking at the 2me Cru wines located in this article. These are highly esteemed Châteaux at far lower prices than some of the other classified Bordeaux wines. Costco is a fabulous place to get Bordeaux, as many classified Châteaux are frequently carried in large numbers year round at significantly reduced prices.

John has recommended this wine on a few occasions to producers looking round table wines. It would pair excellently with Mutton, if you opt to forfeit the Meade. This striking wine bends the palette towards light flirtations of dry blackcurrant, cedar, spice box, and tobacco, as well as some fresh-pressed coffee. The pyrazinic, and graphite flavors will be an enveloping continuation of the dry black fruit character that that quite a nice sweetness of cassis, or blackcurrant jam to these far dryer flavors. This is a classic third growth wine. For basic info on Bordeaux wines, there's a podcast  and article available here.

Chateau Lynch-Bages

CHÂTEAU LYNCH-BAGES

KIRKLAND BORDEAUX SUPÉRIOR

A No Agenda staple, this wine is an incredible little daily-drinker for around eight dollars in most markets. A case of these is great to have around for entertaining, and cooking as well. Despite its low price, it shows great complexity and incredible freshness. The availability is limited due to its value. If you like a fuller, fruitier, and dry wine, this one may be for you. You'll get aromas of cassis, and fresh blackberry. There's some nutmeg and tobac semois, that fades into a sweet hickory smoke and lovely sense of minerality with is reminiscent of crushed stone. Ready to drink now!

Kirkland Bordeaux Superior

VÉRITÉ WINERY SONOMA RED

This winery has been a meetup junction for John and Producer Dana Brunetti. Vérité makes cult-classic wines of superb distinction.  This Bordeaux blend, colloquially known as a Meritage in California, is made up of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot, making this a heavy-Cabernet weighted blend. This wine leads with lighter redcurrant flavors but opens into the full richness of blackcurrant jam, and white Lilly. The fruit condition is very bright, and the acidity shows great structure and leanness, while the balance is weighted still fairly. There's some sheared limestone, and button mushroom earthiness. This is a favorite of critics, but will cost you.

Verite Winery Sonoma Red

DOMAINE DE PEGAU CHÂTEAUNEUF

Both of the boys have a love for these wines - though specific recommendations have been left out, I've included a fantastic example, at an affordable price. This wine demonstrates the incredible intensity of Grenache. Like most Châteauneuf wines, the cuvée is dominated by Grenache, which imprints own the blend a rich concentration of alcohol. The tannin is ethereally brutish, but softens in the bottle with time, becoming silky and unobtrusive. The redcurrant, and fresh red cherry flavor is bold and dramatic with wafting nuances of prosciutto and leather, tinged with a hint of tarragon. This bold, complex wine is very characteristic of this dynamic region.

LOS VASCOS CABERNET GR

This one is a long-time recommendation from John C. Dvorak. He recommends this be purchased by the case - which is wise. This wine is affordable. It's a Bordeaux-style wine which is in the Rothschild arsenal of brands. Typical flavors of cassis, blackcurrant and good structure. The wine is not strikingly fruit forward, but provides requisite acidity and a good minerality. Flavors of wet rock, tobacco, cedar, charred rosemary and black cherry are to follow. You can find this at Costco.
